There are moments when we see the elephants doing something together and we know it would make a great video to share. However, being visible to the girls when they’re comfortable and look like they’re enjoying each other’s company might ruin the moment for them by distracting them from what they’re doing. This video is a great example of a time when it might have been lovely to get closer, but doing so could have completely changed the dynamics of the occasion.
This video of Rana, Mara, Bambi, and Guille spending time together in the pond was filmed from a distance. The whole group were taking turns going in and out, including Guillermina, who was having a good splash. Guille is in the back and Bambi is by the tree; Mara and Rana are in the pond together. We hope you can get a sense of the joy they were exuding and appreciate the low-contact sanctuary life that allows it to happen.

May 29, 2023 at 2:43 pmWhat a beautiful picture of sanctuary life this is. Happy girls all together playing in the water, something none of them ever got to experience before. Thank you for not disturbing them. They are entitled to every single moment without humans, even the ones who love them the most), intruding in their space.
