Caregiver Shirlei reported yesterday that the elephants were roaming all over the place, all day long. Normally after breakfast, they get nice and quiet – the effects of full bellies. Most of the time, as they lazily pick at hay or wander off to graze, we can clean an area in a different part of the habitat while someone monitors their movements. That was not the case today.
Even though the girls recognize that the 4-wheeler with the wagon (which we use to pick up dung and old hay) doesnβt have any food, they still seemed interested in following it around, making it so that no cleaning could be done that morning. This higher-than-normal activity level carried on through the evening as well. Weβre not sure why they seemed so spunky today, but weβve certainly had a giggle or two over our speedy herd.

May 20, 2023 at 4:10 pmI love the visual I have of them just scurrying (if elephants can scurry) about the yards keeping track of the four wheeler, and enjoying the sunshine, fresh air and folage and each other. Happiness is!!ππππππβ€οΈ
