Elephant Sanctuary Brazil Class of 2021: Maia

As the year winds to a close, we see how the elephants at sanctuary have changed, grown, settled into who they are, and continue to challenge themselves to find the most in life. So, in the grand tradition of the high school yearbook, we’ve christened each elephant with her own “class honor,” for 2021.

Maia loves to roam but, this year, she has also pursued new interests, like making new friends and expanding her social circle. Something that hasn’t changed is one of her most charming traits – a willingness to nap at almost any time and place, whether after a treatment at the barn, or in one of the beloved ponds. Maia is definitely Elephant Sanctuary Brazil’s “Most Likely To Sleep Through a Fire Alarm.”
