Last week when this video was filmed, Scott could hear quite a joyful ruckus early in the morning, coming up the hill from Bambi, Mara, and Rana. When getting ready for the day, there were plenty of happy noises and some trumpeting, for good measure.
Scott went down into the habitat to feed the three ladies and the scenario was the same: he saw lots of bright eyes, rumbles, and trumpets from three silly and playful girls. As he said, “Whatever happened during the night, they all woke up on the right side of the bed.”
See (and hear) for yourself.

April 5, 2022 at 5:55 pmWhat a soothing sound these rumblings are! You could market this as one of those going-to-sleep recordings! Can the other two hear the rumbling wherever they are in the whole sanctuary and know that breakfast is on the way?
Sara says
April 5, 2022 at 6:07 pmThey are all aware of breakfast time because they’re smart ladies and know what time it is. But, yes, in general elephant communications can be felt as vibrations for miles.
