Quick update- sorry for the delayed post. Scott was going to try to do a live, but internet didn’t hold out (see Live below that came in after this post was written up!!). I ran down to take care of the girls here, thinking it was going to happen, and came up and there was nothing. Sorry, you’ll have to settle for a photo of Bambi’s relaxed sweet face and the update that Scott shared with me.
Bambi is doing well, she is continuing her trend of- melon was good yesterday, but they’re gross today. Yesterday apples were gross, but today they are fantastic. It’s something we’ve seen in elephants before. She is also cutely demanding of the amount of food you give her. If you don’t put enough in her trunk, she will continue to leave it out to you until the proper amount has filled her nose. This afternoon was a 3 apple requirement.
The loud truck noises on stops are a distraction for her, but otherwise, she remains settled. We are keeping an eye on her on the camera throughout the journey, and she seems good. Scott will try to do a live later on, but this is a pretty barren stretch of the trip. Thankfully, it’s one we know well, and are familiar with all of the best places to stop that offer Bambi an area away from the noise and in the shade.
You can learn more here, or follow her journey on Bambi’s map of dots. We know you love to count them.

Thanks for sharing news and updating trip developments. Wonderful you’re already passed quite some dots. BAMBI must feel good she’s escaped the zoo with so many dark memories. Have a sweet safe night Miss BAMBI. ?❤️??

I love the maps, not just for following along (which is great), but I am an atlas and reference book geek anyway. So I will look up and wonder about where everyone is. I know you can’t tell us direct info, for safety reasons. I am still curious, though, if you passed Iguazu Falls on Mara’s trip? I can’t imagine you didn’t come close to it then, said the reference book geek. I’m so glad to hear Bambi is holding up, and holding out for the right amount of food, LOLOL Fingers crossed for an arrival tomorrow, meaning fingers crossed for an easy trip.

Yes to Iguazu Falls.

HA, I knew it. I will now develop amnesia for future trips down Buenos Aires and Argentine way. I bet it was beautiful, though.

That gives me the warmest giggles to hear about her picky food demands. Does my heart good. You go, girl! Just wait and see what’s coming!!! Wish I were there to watch in person.

Wonderful pic of Bambi looking pretty relaxed. Oh those dots are looking good! Won’t be terribly long and Bambi will reach safe sanctuary.

Scott you and your team are amazingly awesome to keep sending all the updates.?? It is like being there with Bambi. So excited for her to get home !!!!!
Kelejan saysSeptember 25, 2020 at 6:17 pm
I am not sure whether Bambi is facing forward or facing back looking at where she has come from.
Not long now before she is home. So much to look forward to.
EleComposer saysSeptember 25, 2020 at 6:30 pm
She is facing forward. Looking to where she is going. No looking backwards. ❤️

Thank you EleComposer for your quick reply. You really make us feel part of the move. I know if I was travelling like Bambi, I would want to be facing forward too. With all this Covid and being self-isolated, being able to follow something like this is a Godsend. Love to you all who care for these wonderful creatures. I do believe it has made a a better person.

I’ve been following and supporting the case of Happy in captivity at Bronx Zoo who are refusing to move her to a sanctuary. The case was due today but I have no way of knowing the outcome yet.
Elephants require special care and seldom receive it. Looks like you need patience with Bambi but she will respond when she is ready. I wish you success with your dedication.

Boy those guys are really making tracks I can’t believe how many miles they’ve gone already! Bambi will be home very soon what a heartwarming beautiful sight to see that first step into sanctuary soil its really emotional for us I can only imagine how it feels for you all who’ve worked tirelessly to save these amazing Elephants being able to watch it happen in real time it brings tears of joy to your eyes how can it not, God Bless ???

The 3 apple requirement is just too funny! She must think “If you’re going to put me in this crate & take me for a ride, then these are my demands.”

I see that she is carefully training you on apples, etc. You are coming along very well! By the end of the journey she’ll have you fully trained and under control…

Thank You so much for your updates whether they are in video or text form. You and your team along with Miss Bambi bring so much love and joy not only to myself but with the rest of the world who strongly believe that no animal should be removed from the wild for our enjoyment, and suffer any abuse from man. You and those of us who care about them speak out on their behalf.
