It’s happening! Scott checked in for a quick Live update as Bambi is in the transport container, and the crane is here!! We are thrilled, happy, and proud of brave Bambi. She’s doing incredibly well.
Bambi was feeling more confident and lighter today. She seemed ready, so we are beginning her journey home.
Once the trailer is loaded on the truck, we will still need to pack it with her supplies before we leave the zoo and start the trip home. The zoo is 790 miles (1,270 kilometers) from the sanctuary. We will make frequent stops along the way, and we expect to arrive in 2-3 days.
Bambi’s new life is about to begin, and we are so grateful to everyone who has come together to make this a reality.
Follow along with her journey home here →

September 24, 2020 at 3:55 pmYAY OH YAY OH YAY!!
I’ve posted that everywhere, LOL, except FB where I do not have an account. I’m so happy, so looking forward to Bambi’s trip, so glad it’s not as far as the last few trips that have been made. My heart almost stopped at the sight of Maison. I know Scott’s information and advice can help improve Maison’s life immediately. I will hope that Maison is given the same chance as Bambi without it being forced by a court order someday soon, that would be nice. I won’t forget her, I know you guys won’t either.
I will be wishing everyone a safe, speedy trip.

September 24, 2020 at 5:10 pmAfter yesterday’s post, I did not think her departure from the zoo would happen so quickly. I am happy for Bambi and the GSE team to be able to finally head home. Bambi will likely be fearful over the next few days. She has no idea of the wondrous and loving new life which awaits her. My prediction is that Rana will be the first elephant “to welcome” Bambi to her new home.

September 24, 2020 at 5:13 pmWhat a wonderful feeling to log on to my computer and to find that Bambi is in her crate and the start of the final journey to her forever home. We will see her blossom like every other elephant that is lucky to come to Sanctuary. To watch her become as healthy as possible in spite of those oh so many years without freedom. To put on the weight she needs, to watch her skin become so much better, to and to do what ever she wants to do at any time, with the most wonderful people in the world who love and understand elephants.

September 24, 2020 at 6:07 pmI saw the live feed notice come on – I clicked on and saw the all the equipment needed to lift container on truck and Scott saying this was the day – I burst into tears and haven’t topped yet. This is so wonderful. I was so worried yesterday that it was going take our girl longer to feel comfortable but she fell under Scott’s spell – so exciting can’t wait to see her home and meeting her sisters (when she feels like it of course).

September 25, 2020 at 11:40 amI am overjoyed. Such a beautiful noise to hear that crane and truck ready to go. Brave girl Bambi… can you imagine her thoughts hearing this and being enclosed in the crate. Sad to see Maison standing and watching from her cell. Hopefully not much longer in this depressing, barren place for her.??♥️

September 25, 2020 at 9:41 pmCongrats! Team bambi! We are so happy that our girl has landed on home turf! What a tough girl to hang in there. She is a perfect fit with your family of elephants. I cannot wait to see miss bambi becoming a part of the gang of girls! Yippee!
