Karissa and Chrissy have arrived in Mendoza, Argentina. They are settling into their temporary home and begin working with the elephants full-time in the next few days. They stopped by the Ecoparque Mendoza for a few hours to see Tamy, Pocha, Guillermina, and Kenya. Everyone seems to be doing ok.
Tamy was a little mischievous – as he usually is. Pocha was slightly reserved, but Guillermina came over and was happy to show off by doing a “lean in” as soon as Karissa asked, displaying her sassy teenage-like attitude. Kenya, always on point, came over and presented her feet for inspection.
As we mentioned before, Karissa and Chrissy will be sharing regular updates from Mendoza, and we hope to have the first #MendozaMail to share sometime next week!
We also wanted to share that we have partnered with FLOAT for another limited edition t-shirt that will be available next week – February 8-14. This shirt will feature Pocha & Guillermina and commemorates their upcoming rescue. We will share details next week, so keep your eye out. (& yes, they ship internationally!)

Photo to the right: t-shirt design available through FLOAT starting Monday

February 6, 2021 at 5:04 amI am beyond happy to know these poor elephants will finally get to leave their mini cement prison for sanctuary. I can not believe how long they have been able to survive under these horrible conditions. Who ever thought this was a reasonable home for them should imprisoned there for a year for their cruelty.
Kelejan says
February 6, 2021 at 9:15 amCarol, I would suggest they be confined there as long as Pocha and Guillermina were. Not their caregivers but the people who had the power to decided how they were to be treated.
