On this particular afternoon, Bambi was sharing the yard with her friends, but was also taking some time to herself – to graze and relax. You can see her big, beautiful ears flapping rhythmically and in a synchronized way. This is to keep cool and make sure that bugs stay away. Watching elephants in a natural environment, just being elephants, can soothe you on even the most hectic of days.

November 5, 2022 at 3:08 pmHow muggy does it feel? Is it uncomfortable for humans? Are the bugs a problem for the humans also? Thank You , Nancy
Sara says
November 5, 2022 at 3:47 pmIt’s not terribly humid at the sanctuary. There are some bugs, but they’re mostly pesky and not problematic. We do have lots of big, impressive looking bugs that show up every once in a while.
