This week, Scott saw the “Powerpuff Girls” walking near the pond and hoped to get a video of Bambi playing in the mud, because, for many days, that had become part of her afternoon routine. At the last minute she seemed to opt out of a mud bath. As often happens, elephants have their own ideas about what they are going to do and when.
By then, Rana was approaching as well and Scott thought maybe she’d take the opportunity to splash around a little. But, no, she decided that the pond was a no-go as well. Mara hung back and did her own thing, seemingly more interested in grazing than the water, which is typical for her.
There are times when you hope you might be able to get a specific video of the elephants and when you grab the camera, they keep right on doing their own elephant thing on their own time. We are grateful that they have the chance to make their own choices even though it doesn’t always make for action-packed videos. Still, Bambi, Rana, and Mara enjoyed the sunny afternoon on their own terms, and we celebrated that.

January 25, 2023 at 4:40 pmIsn’t nice that the powder puff girls can make these choices. For us onlookers, a little video of them strolling through lush vegetation is perfection and a privilege ❤️

January 26, 2023 at 4:29 amThese PP girls–and, well, the other girls–NEVER disappoint! I may sound crazy, but I LOVE everything about them. I love their feet and I love to watch them walk. So fascinating! So attractive! As I commented in a prior post, every little thing they do is magic. And thanks, Scott, for the always great cinematography. Hugs to everyone, big and not so big!
