Hope you enjoy this video of Bambi playing in the rain while Mara and Rana watch from nearby. They chose not to join in, but that didn’t seem to deter Bambi from having a lovely time.
In case you are wondering, that is an elephant-made hole.

I notice Bambi slapping back there with her tail… I remember Rana doing that because she had issues down there. Does Bambi have something similar going on?

December 27, 2020 at 2:15 pmThere are so many amazing things in this video. Bambi’s joy at smushing all through the mud is one of them, just the look on her face. Then I noticed how BIG Rana looked, she looked almost Maia tank-like big in the middle, LOL!! Her and Mara both look so fit and fantastic, though. Then, going when the camera goes back to Bambi, I realize how much healthier her entire body seems. I see muscle definition starting a bit in those long, long legs of hers, a bit of roundness starting on her (semi) wrinkled tummy, and yes, Ms. Bambi looks so fantastic. I ALMOST can’t believe she’s the same ellie pre-Santuary. She looks fabulous. I’m so glad she just had her fun in the mud and the rain, whether the other ladies joined in or not. Good for Bambi!! All that squishing around is doing wonders for her, and me, too, I guess, LOLOL

December 27, 2020 at 2:37 pmHahaha – Bambi is joyful and so funny, who doesn’t like messing about in mud. Not surprised the others are just watching her, I could do it all day ? Rana and Mara are like a couple of twins, they seem to reflect each other’s body language and are perfectly aligned ❤️ Aren’t they all looking amazing – it’s like they are glowing – thanks to their heavenly home ❤️❤️❤️???
Thank you all at Sanctuary Brazil for your beautiful care of these girls ??

December 28, 2020 at 1:52 amBeautiful Bambi. This is so gorgeous seeing her enjoying the mud……the same ellie who was afraid of the rain at the zoo! My how she has changed. I did notice how good she looked and she does look a little fuller in the belly, more of a fat layer on her body. Her skin looks so much better, too. Loved seeing Rana and Mara side by side, Rana really is a big elephant. I did notice her cross her left back leg and I know you said she does this because of the vulva irritation she suffers from from time to time. I did then wonder if Bambi has the same condition and she was calming the area in the mud? Or was she simply having a happy, silly time? It was good to see her look so well and living life to the full.
Kat Blais says
December 28, 2020 at 3:10 pmMost elephants do it now and again. Bambi was initially rubbing her head into the mud when we went to get our phones to try and record. Then she shifted to her bum. Her vulva is dropped because she urinated before spinning around, which many elephants take advantage to scratch them. Bambi does have dry skin on the sides of her vulva, similar to what Mara had upon arrival, but it is vastly improved.
