Alma is a tapir that came to us, initially as part of the wild animal rehabilitation and release program. Because she is blind and has some other medical issues, she is a permanent resident and has become a well-loved and sometimes cantankerous member of our sanctuary family.
Each day, a caregiver brings Alma some browse – her favorite vines and branches – as a treat and to maintain a balanced diet. Here she is enjoying those snacks. We think she’s quite charming.
P.S.: Part of the video is in slow motion, and there is a low, droning sound. Not to worry; it’s just a rooster making a racket, with the sound slowed down.
