It’s a chilly morning here at Elephant Sanctuary Brazil – an occurrence that only happens a handful of times a year. Everyone is doing well and finding their places in the sun to warm up. Pocha is apparently looking for ways to get even more dirt onto her body. π
Pocha and Guille are closed in the barn for a short time while the caregivers clean their yards. Scott did a short live on Instagram last night, while both girls were in Yard 3. He was going to do one on FB as well, but they decided to nap. Although the two became quiet at that moment, they did a lot of wandering outside last night. All of their produce, spread throughout the three yards, was eaten, along with most of the hay. We havenβt put anything out deeper into the yards at this point because we want to make sure they are eating enough, but will probably start doing so this evening. Both Pocha and Guillermina seem to be spending almost as much time outside at night as inside, so we will keep encouraging them to take steps further from the barn. And it seems early morning will continue to be best suited for nap time.

May 18, 2022 at 10:41 amBoy oh boy shes having a fun time in the dirt isnt she! It really boggles the mind to know the girls didn’t have access to dirt which is so important for elephants to have to keep bugs off and help with sun exposure thankfully they have mountains of it here π₯³

May 19, 2022 at 9:17 amWhat an insane week! Full of tears, over the top emotions…. rollercoaster of so many feelings! AND the excitement! Sleepless nights and dawn awakenings! I did not log into the blog for awhile – to busy watching all the videos, and re watching and reading all the articles. Finally I adopted Pocha and Guille – yey! AND paypal function worked this time like a dream…:-) My herd is growing..:-)) The website has not been updated as yet, as under ” Elephants” Pocha and Guille are still listed under Elephants in waiting – Mendoza 4! Plus we know Kuky and Pupy are next in line to arrive but they are nowhere to be seen – shouldn’t they be under Elephants in waiting maybe?..? or somewhere?….I know everyone has been insanely busy but maybe someone could start fixing those little bits – please..:-))) NOW I am going away to re watch yet again some of my very favourite bits from all those amazing videos!! I cannot even describe how happy I am seeing them in that paradise….strolling, munching, dusting (Pocha is The Queen of Dust)….awwww…THANK YOU!! Love you guys!

May 19, 2022 at 10:31 amThank you for your excitement and support. And – yes- we’ve had quite a bit on our plates recently. The website will be updated, but elephants must be tended to first and that’s an all-hands-on-deck project. Stay tuned.

June 30, 2022 at 7:34 amThis is amazing on so many levels – how long, if ever, has it been since she’s had dirt to use? And has she had palms in her environment either? “Wow” is all I can say!
